Liz hails from Des Moines, Iowa. Yes, that’s one state above Missouri and it is, in fact, the state that’s home to the world’s largest truck stop. Some say the highway oasis resembles a small city, but for Liz it’s home and a place dear to her heart.

This summer, Liz studied abroad in London at a digital marketing agency, MintTwist. The heart of the U.K. is one of the most eclectic and diverse places she’s ever been. It’s a place where she experienced countless new things and delicious foods. Oh… the foods. When it comes to favorite internship locations, the cuisine may sway her, but cool and lively agency names help too: MintTwist for account management, Trillix for special event planning, and the Ink Cafe for her side hustle. Wherever she goes, the food might be fried, baked, or broiled, but her resume is sizzling. As both a journalism and psychology major, she’s not sure where she might land. What is she is sure of, however, is her love for in-depth talks with people to learn what drives their actions, which is what makes her passionate about her role as a researcher. If Iowa 80 Truckstop taught her anything, it’s that on this planet, there are many different folks with widly diverse strokes.

Have you ever met someone who is so in touch with their goals that they make you wonder if you’re living hard enough? Well, hold on to your self-esteem, this might get rough. We’re about to introduce Alyssa Henzler.

Growing up in a household that valued creative expression and thoughtful citizenship allowed Alyssa to start developing her passions from a very young age. Her creative pursuits eventually blossomed into her qualifying as a percussionist on the Mizzou drumline—where she has performed internationally at venues such as the Schönbrunn Palace in Prague and the Dublin St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Civically, she became dedicated to serving her community, which culminated in landing a position managing social media and providing accurate facts for floor discussions for the Missouri House of Representatives. Last summer, she held a content marketing internship with ProPhase Marketing, a full service company from Minnesota, and she currently serves as a communications intern for the University of Missouri Office of Service-Learning, as well as the social media and apparel manager for the Marching Mizzou Drumline. But, she’s never seen The Incredibles before. At least we can make fun of her for that.

Tu hablas espanol? Porque no practicar con ella? It’s probably a good idea to be honest, and she’d love every minute of it. We’d like to introduce you to Jasmin, a Memphis native with an affinity for Spanish and a bigger heart for people than we thought was even possible. If she’s not listening to podcasts or giving perspective freshmen and their families personalized tours of the university, she’s most likely coordinating her next service trip to empower women and children in need.

Clever, confident, and brilliantly dedicated to her ambitions, Jasmin’s empathy for humanity is matched only by her work ethic. This summer, she worked as a strategy intern for fluent360, where she investigated social media consumption, buying power and other market trends as they relate to the African-American, Hispanic, Asian and LGBTQ consumer groups. She also helped research and fully redesign a new social media strategy for the agency’s Instagram and LinkedIn pages. In the past, she held a position as a multimedia intern for Choose901, writing press releases and promoting events throughout Memphis. After she graduates, but before working in a global ad agency, she hopes to achieve her dream of living abroad, becoming fluent in Spanish and immersing herself in the culture.
