Olivia Plangger

Olivia Plangger

Account Manager

Olivia Plangger from Bloomington, Illinois, is our grounded and compassionate Account Manager. Olivia’s organizational skills and ambition helps drive our team to success. She’s a natural manager, living through her Apple Calendar. She likes to make a plan and follow through with it, whether that is making cookies for friends, attending her intramural basketball games or visiting her longtime family vacation spot in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Olivia’s curious eye and thoughtful leadership are backed by a range of experiences. She can understand our creative team and contribute from a logistical perspective because of her time conducting pre-market testing on creative concepts and balancing roles on three campaign teams as a marketing creative content intern at State Farm. Her experience also includes leading a team to create and pitch an integrated B2B advertising campaign to Dell Technologies as a VML intern. In her first go-round with MOJO Ad, she led Team Sonder in the creation and pitch of the “Learn More, Live Richer” campaign for NASA, which was recognized for having the greatest impact by tapping into culture.

Olivia is a go-getter who values mentorship and a growth mindset. She is involved across campus in the Honors College, American Advertising Federation, Griffiths Leadership Society for Women, Summer Welcome, intramural basketball and Alpha Chi Omega. She served as a public relations specialist and copywriter at Matchbook Marketing Agency and just completed her term as vice president of internal communications for PRSSA Mizzou.

Olivia is passionate about community involvement. She’s been a fundraising and advocacy volunteer with True North, advocating for domestic and sexual violence survivors in the Columbia area. Along with that, she also helps as a clean up crew volunteer where she removes invasive honeysuckle at Grindstone Park Nature Reserve.

While Olivia has put her 10-year violinist journey on pause, she still enjoys listening to music that shares a story. She even saw Adele live last year and is already planning her next concert!

Owen Newland

Owen Newland

Quantitative Strategist

Owen Newland is Team Oracle’s quantitative wizard. Owen’s speciality is divining valuable insights from troves of percentages and figures. Hailing from Seattle, he brings an optimistic and energetic aura that is only matched by his passion for analytics. His work ensures that Team Oracle is grounded in what is true to our youth and young adult audience.

Owen has spent the past two years of his young career supercharging newsrooms across Mid-Missouri with his analytical prowess. Owen began as a member of the audience strategy desk at the Columbia Missourian. In this role, Owen implemented SEO processes, repackaged news content for social media and developed strategies for the growing vertical video format. This experience gave him the tools necessary to flourish in the Reynolds Journalism Institute’s Potter Digital Ambassador Program. In the program, Owen aided rural newsrooms with the implementation of web and newsletter tools, making an impact in small communities.

Owen has found other ways to impact the local community outside of his work as well. This year will be his second year participating in Mizzou Giving Day, a donation campaign for the university, as a Mizzou Digital Ambassador. Previously, he helped raise $10,000 for the Ability Experience, an organization that aids differently abled children and young adults, by securing corporate sponsors for a charity concert. Owen also carries great influence on campus serving as a representative for the School of Journalism in the Missouri Students Association and a homecoming liaison for his fraternity Pi Kappa Phi.

You may know Owen from his appearance in Washington’s state final of the National Geographic Geography Bee. He correctly answered Kazakhstan to the question, “In what modern-day country was Sputnik I launched from?” (which is very impressive considering Owen was in fourth grade at the time.)

Throughout her four semesters at Matchbook, she has been a chameleon, effortlessly switching between roles. She has served as a copywriter, graphic designer, and now her current role as a creative lead. In this role, she oversees the production of deliverables for clients and meets with clients to discuss brand objectives. Abby also served as a public relations intern at Weber Shandwick in New York City. She also served as the sorority’s academic chairwoman and, most recently, their social media coordinator.

One phrase that Abby is familiar with is “let her cook!” Cooking is an important part of her family and allows them to connect with each other. She even mastered her family’s spaghetti dinner recipe which has been passed down for six generations.

Savannah is all about perception which allows her to pick the best designs and ideas for an audience. She will be creating many of the visual elements that will define the look and feel of Team Oracle.

When she’s not whipping up graphics for Team Oracle, she is coordinating the graphic design for the University of Missouri’s Strategic Communication social media pages. She is working hard to ensure that the program has a cohesive and alluring visual identity on platforms like Instagram, Linkedin and Facebook. Her posts help the student body stay informed on all things strategic communications and increase student engagement with the program.

Savannah got her start at the University of Missouri’s student paper, The Maneater. She briefly created graphics for the paper before moving into the world of strategic communications. Savannah spent the summer of 2023 as a social design intern at Paradowski in St. Louis. At Paradowski, she worked on the Enterprise Rent-A-Car account, producing engaging visuals and videos for the brand’s Instagram and Pinterest. Her leadership duties included ensuring that brand standards were followed and skills were being built among the junior members of her team.

Her love for the graphic arts pale in comparison to her love for quality cinema and live music. Savannah currently is pursuing a minor in film and visual studies and hopes to one day merge her love of strategic communications with movies. Her favorite movie? Little Women (Taste!).
